Flora and Fauna Observation

While the wildlife keeps a watchful eye, the flora is poised to captivate you. At the heart of Authentic Quebec, the abundant and diverse fauna and biodiversity are a testament to the vastness of our territory. The region’s reputation is well established among birdwatchers. Don’t miss the UNESCO-recognized Lac Saint-Pierre Biosphere Reserve, home to over 200 bird species, including Great Blue Herons, thanks to our various vantage points such as the SCIRBI trails in Berthierville and the free-of-charge Pointe-à-Caron walkway in Louiseville. While bird-watching can be enjoyed year-round, spring is an ideal time to get started; the absence of leaves on the trees makes spotting these winged creatures easier.

Here, you’ll encounter a host of birds, such as Blue Jays, Cardinals, American Robins, Black-capped Chickadees, Hairy Woodpeckers, a variety of warblers, the American Goldfinch, and the Great Blue Heron, not to mention Snow Geese and Canada Geese, among many others! And don’t be surprised if you come face to face with our migratory birds, white-tailed deer, moose or beavers as you turn a bend in the trail, in flight or underwater – our wildlife is everywhere. When it comes to flora, numerous locations including our regional and national parks await, ready to introduce you to the diverse offerings of our forests through guided activities and educational panels.
